Frequently Asked Questions
When did you start making dice?
We officially launched into the tabletop gaming universe in 2017, bringing our passion for unique designs, vibrant colors, and high-quality materials to gamers everywhere.
What are Kraken Dice made of?
Most of our standard dice are made from high-grade resin. However, we also love crafting sets out of premium materials like solid metal, natural stone, woods!
How should I care for and store my dice?
To keep your dice looking pristine, we recommend storing them in a soft dice bag or lined vault rather than tossing them loosely into a box where they can scratch against each other. Protect sharp-edge resin and gemstone dice by rolling them on a cushioned dice mat or tray instead of directly on hard surfaces like wood or stone, which can chip the corners. Avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or extreme heat for extended periods.
Are Kraken Dice balanced for fair rolls?
Absolutely. While many of our dice feature unique, artistic shapes, sharp edges, and custom inclusions (like glitter, foil, or floating miniatures), they are meticulously manufactured and quality-tested to ensure random, fair rolls. Our 14pc resin dice, in particular, offer exceptional balance, feel great in your hand and our satisfying to roll on the table.
What is the difference between standard polyhedral sets and 14-piece sets?
While standard tabletop RPG dice sets include 7 pieces (D4, D6, D8, D10, D%, D12, and D20), many of our Kraken resin sets are sold as 14-piece sets. These expanded sets typically include extra D20s and D6s, which are especially popular for games like Dungeons & Dragons where players frequently roll advantage/disadvantage or large pools of damage dice.
Do you offer different sizes of dice?
Yes, we do! While standard 16mm polyhedral sets are our bread and butter, we also offer oversized dice (like our Behemoth Solid Aluminum 200mm D20 that weighs 30 LBS) and petite mini sets for gamers on the go.
How did Kraken Dice start?
Have you ever rolled a die that just felt right in your hand, looking so cool that it made your critical hits feel even more epic? If you’re a fan of tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, I like to think my company, Kraken Dice, had a little something to do with bringing that serious artistic flair to your gaming table!
We didn’t start in some massive corporate skyscraper. Instead, our story began back in 2014 in Diana’s parents’ garage. Back then, I was just an avid tabletop wargamer running a one-man company called Game Matz, printing custom game mats. But when Diana and I discovered the magical world of D&D, our creative journeys took an exciting new turn. As we dove deep into campaigns, we noticed something missing: the dice.
Standard dice sets back then often felt a little, well, boring. They lacked the vibrant personality and artistic spark that matched the epic adventures playing out at the table. Luckily, I’ve never been one to just accept “the way things have always been done.” As a creator, I’ve always thrived on breaking free from conventional molds and questioning industry norms. I found standard dice lacking in both stunning visuals and the satisfying tactile “weight” a player wants when making a high-stakes roll.
Determined to shake things up, Diana and I set out to design something better. We wanted dice that were not only absolute eye-candy but also felt incredible to hold and roll. Through a lot of passion and dedication, we ended up developing a brand-new size for dice that struck the ultimate balance between eye-catching design and practical gameplay. Today, I’m so proud to say that very size has become an industry standard!
What started as a humble garage startup blossomed into a movement, proving that gaming accessories can be true works of art. We changed the game by injecting color, creativity, and a whole lot of love into every single roll, helping players everywhere make their tabletop adventures unforgettable.
Even better? We’ve stayed true to our roots as a family-owned small business, proudly refusing to sell out to corporate investors who so often prioritize profits over the players. We made a simple, steadfast promise to always put our customers first in a world where gamers usually come last. So whether you’re battling dragons or casting spells, know this: when we create dice at Kraken, we create them just for you!
